People Are Interesting: Lisa

Today's interesting person is a creative, fantastic, witty, yoga-loving lady!  Her name is Lisa.  If I lived in Canada, I'd want to hang out with her all the time.  Thanks Lisa!  Check out her blog: Eco Yogini.

My name is Lisa and I am a 28 year old Paediatric Speech-Language Pathologist in foggy Nova Scotia Canada. I grew up in a tiny fishing village with a lobster fisherman father and Acadian mother. Being Acadienne, I identify strongly with my culture and Francophone heritage.

1. Where do you feel most comfortable?
In nature near the ocean... with my fiancé. I love being near the fearsome Atlantic ocean, with it's grey waves, strong salt water essence and powerful energy. I know that often individuals adore the calm, turquoise and sparkling pacific... but I've seen that coast and for myself it holds none of the constant strength and inspiration of the raging, foggy east coast.

2. Describe your average day in one word.
Busy.

3. Who are the people who most inspire you?
My female relatives, mother, Tante Virginia, Grand-mère.

4. What do you love about your work?
I love my clients. I love that I can assess, put together the pieces of a puzzle and with therapy watch the children's ability to communicate with their world grow. All while playing games and connecting. I love the look on a parents' face when their child speaks to them.

5. What is your most beloved hobby?
Singing and playing guitar. I love music. I love the feeling of being lost while I play. Of hearing my voice hit that *right* resonance with the strings.

6. What are you reading?
'The Heretics of Dune' (book 5 of 6). I am a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy.

7. What is the best advice you've ever received?
'let go'

8. What movie or television show do you think everyone should be required to watch?
Well... we don't have a tv...BUT, we watched all seasons of Battlestar Galactica. Seriously, BEST program ever. Even if you don't like sci-fi, this show is fantastic. It really touches on what we consider 'human'.
