Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursdays

It's 11:16pm on Thursday. I feel like complaining, so instead, I'll be thankful.

It has been an immensely challenging week on a lot of different levels, and I found out this evening that I'm down to 17,000 platelets. So after the funeral tomorrow, I'll be heading over to get an infusion at the Infusion Therapy Center. The nurse thinks I will have to get a unit of platelets, too, but we'll wait and see. I'd rather just get IVIG. If the funeral and luncheon go long or something else comes up, I'll have the treatment Saturday morning. Enough blah, blah, bloody talk.

Time for some gratitude. This week I am thankful for:

-Surprise Post-it notes
-A special care center visit
-Phone chats with 92-year-olds
-Honesty
-Allergy pills
-Laughing and crying in the same minute
-Really good cries
-Awkward elevator moments (aren't they all?!?!)
-Meeting other people's grandmas
-Seeing my brother
-The book of Job
-South Park
-Hope
-Ideas
-Blood tests
-A boss who knows how to fix cars
-Tea time
-Dairy Queen tacos (oh yes. oh yes. BELIEVE ME ON THIS!)

Your turn. What are you thankful for this week? If you read this on Friday or Saturday,
please comment anyway!

  1. Hi Emily! This week I am thankful for the movie "Dan in Real Life" which made laugh out loud and cry my eyes out; for Buckley in all his fat kitteh mischevious snuggleness; for my awesome Kindle; and for the cold but nourishing rain that will make the grass grow and the trees leaf and all the bright flowers come out!

  2. I'm thankful for steel cut oats for breakfast, for hiking in the park, for buying plane tickets to see my sister & nephews, for crochet time, for silly movies, and Zach's day off.

  5. okay clearly, I was having technical difficulties (that I am not thankful for), however, I am thankful for only being 3 hours from family family so overnight visits are doable; that although it is lighter later, my children still slip into bed oh so easily and early; my post-kids-are-in-bed treat: melting dark choc chips and swirling some creamy PB in it! yes indeed it's delish!; prepping the garden for planting; lent; Jesus Christ Superstar (the original Ted Neely version). Much love to you Em!!!!
