Southeastern Minnesota Assembly Wrap-up

The 2013 Southeastern Minnesota Synod Assembly is now complete.  Presiding Bishop of the ELCA, Mark Hanson, was with us for the full two days.  He's awesome.  Bishop Hanson is somehow able to speak difficult, important truths in a way that leaves everyone feeling like all things are possible.

Last night at the evening program, deep thanks was expressed to all members of the synod staff who will now turn in their resignations as preparations for the new bishop to begin this fall.  The new  bishop will then have the opportunity to call his own new staff.  I've been in the synod for the last 4 years, and I would definitely say we've had a TERRIFIC staff.  TRULY TERRIFIC.

Bishop Harold Usgaard has served the synod for the past 12 years.  I'm very thankful for his ministry within our synod.

Today, Pastor Steve Delzer was elected to serve as the synod's new bishop.  It was an exciting day.  And so neat to experience it alongside other staff and lay members of Zion, the congregation I serve.

I hope you're in the midst of a wonderful weekend!
